TRAVEL TIPS

  • Plan ahead! Traveling to the San Juan Islands is popular, especially in summer. Advanced reservations for flights and ferries are highly suggested.

  • Ferry reservations are available two months before the official start of the season. Sign up for a Save A Spot account to track your reservation and receive updates on when reservations become available for the season.

  • The ferries release a portion of available reservations two months before the season start date. If those spots fill up, more reservations are opened two weeks and again two days before any sailing date, starting at 7 am. They also reserve 10% for standby.

  • Ferry walk-ons do not require a reservation.

  • Be sure to read the arrival window for your ferry reservation and plan accordingly.

  • Don’t panic! Remember you’re heading to “island time.” Should you miss your desired ferry departure, visit the WSF Save A Spot site for the next sailing departure. We suggest not to take the last sailing of the day to ensure timely arrival to your Orcas Island escape.
